I had today off, and I finished up the book Presumed Innocent. I expected more. It feels as if it was written by 2 separate authors. There are these gorgeous, immersive stretches of writing. And then entire sections of average dialogue-driven, tv-like scenes.

I am 51 years old, and it only just occurred to me that "the horse knows the way / to carry the sleigh" is referencing its good directional sense.
