Happy #Pride, Belfast!
To celebrate, we want to share 'Fear', 'The Shame' and 'Chaps' from the series 'The Glamour Boys' (2024) by Simon Dredge.

'The Glamour Boys' celebrates #LGBTQHistory and those who helped pave the way for equal rights.

A circular ceramic, split in half. One half has text reading “here comes the shame”; the other reads “all he cares about it love”. On the left, the out rim reads “be careful”, with the right reading “they’re watching you”. The disc is decorated in plaid patterns. An orange circular ceramic with the words “fear eats the soul”. A circular ceramic with a pin triangle decorating the middle. In the triangle are the words “but we bring the fun!” The triangle hides text, which we can just discern reads “those…chaps”. The three ceramics mounted on a wall together.

Finally I was able to record one of the woodpeckers in the garden this weekend. I feel so privileged to have up to three of these amazing birds visit everyday. Thanks to the free Merlin bird call app.

I watched it in the City Hospital after having an emergency appendectomy. Ciggie in hand, drip in arm on the TV in the Dayroom. The day before the orderlies asked if I wanted to be put in a wheelchair to go and watch the Twelfth 😳

Coverage of the Live Aid concert on telly tonight. I vividly remember that day was boiling hot and it took a LOT of persuasion to get my da to allow us to put the generator on to watch it.

There were only two venues in the UK. Us and Manchester Art Gallery.

I got an enquiry from a US academic about an exhibition held in Belfast in 1935. We had the catalogue in our archive. Who knew the Belfast Museum & Art Gallery @ulstermuseum.org
were so forward thinking! #WaltDisney

👃 Today's #OnlineArtExchange theme is 'smells in art' for ‘Scented Visions' at the Watts Gallery.

🌸 'Still Life' by Georges Jeannin overflows with sensory information. You can almost smell the bright bouquet and the slightly acrid odor of the spilt vase water.

A still life painting of a vase of flowers tipped on its side. The bouquet is large and bright, spilling off the edge of the canvas.

My husband who is the complete and utter Heinlein fan. Don’t read Starship Troopers first. Read Revolt in 2100, Moon is a Harsh Mistress and Stranger in a Strange Land. Also Job, Comedy of Justice.

Have you read Robert A Heinlein?
