It's essential to know that this is a limited pres power. It includes duties minimally needed to ensure fed functions can continue, or to protect a fed officer from bodily harm. It doesn't, for example, include an authorization to perform law enforcement functions.

1. Authorize calling into federal service 2,000 National Guard members under an emergency mobilization authority, 10 USC 12406. As @stevevladeck.bsky.social has mentioned, all this does is put NG on federal duty orders. It doesn't substantively authorize any mission.

I’m on the ground. The masks are respiratory masks or makeshifts to deter tear gas. Protestors are overwhelmingly peaceful. Every incident of escalation has come by the hands of ICE and LASD.
