In Paper Mario: Sticker Star, it is possible that the developers deliberately made Kersti have low value as a joke. She sells for only 15 coins, and when upgraded becomes a regular Jump sticker, meaning she is considered to be equivalent to a Worn-Out Jump.

Super Mario 64 DS can crash simply due to the player being too skillful. If Yoshi eats a Lakitu and then manages to hit three enemies with that egg in Rainbow Ride, the game will spawn so many coins that they overflow the object limit and the game crashes.

The most realistic villains to write are just selfish jerks.
I know critics want depth and uncomfortable relatability, but "dude just wants wealth and power, and is willing to step on others to get it" might be the most relevant to reality villains in existence.
