It tends to boil down to "b-but we said all the right stuff to get invited to your lady club! And now you're making hats and whispering amongst yourselves and it's about us. How dare you!"

Hey bud, thanks for the support but we were actually talking about how the hats are a lil sweaty and NOT YOU

Vox has a publicized relationship with OpenAI. Why would anyone trust a single word written on your website about AI?

This particular skeet is NYT PitchBot levels of WTF-ery without any of the delicious satire.

Gross. So gross y'all made any points the author had moot upon reading.

Thank you for being clear about this being a VF piece first and linking to both.

That seems to be very difficult for our current crop of media chattering class.

We know Haberman, Baker, et al cannot get this kind of intel! Why are we all linking to the NYT & giving them the scoop by association?
December 16, 2025 at 5:23 PM
But it's NOT. And I will keep swatting this down - this is NOT the NYT's scoop or reporting.

This link is to the article ABOUT the article.

The actual work--the series of interviews, cultivation of the subject, the written words--came from Vanity Fair! Specifically Chris Whipple.
December 16, 2025 at 5:00 PM
It's the Vanity Fair piece that is really doing the harm. That's important.

This link is to the NYT article *about* the VF article. Peter Baker and the NYT should NOT get credit for another writer's (Chris Whipple) year-long series of interviews and trust building with his subject.

While playing the emotional 'But I'm Just an Old Lady' card.

Either easy option at hand is gross -- she's playing office politics at an elite level or she's being chit-chatted into admitting some shit to a major publication.

So it's likely neither and WTF is actually going on here?!
December 16, 2025 at 2:32 PM
This is the question. Why?

The bombs she's dropping aren't explosive. We know this shit, even if it's not reportable.

The tone is weird? She's coming off as the bitchy omniscient office manager we've all survived who, oopsie, drops the hot betrayal goss on EVERYONE to keep her fiefdom in check.

Here's a draft I made! My 7 year old helped my with some suggestions of things she likes to do at the library. And I made a custom one for myself of things I want to do next year at the library.

Fair point. He very well may have been behind the scenes, whipping for no votes.

He is so out of the conversation, folks are so big mouthed and IN so small, I would like to think that whispers of his involvement will trickle through to local politics adjacent* gossip, but maybe not!

Hoosier Republican voters like to feel that they are doing Republicanism and politics The Right Way. This feels like trying to get away with something.

2) Hoosier good ole boys (HGOB) don't like to be told what to do.

3) HGOB want the HGOB they elected to answer to *them* - not Washington.

I have no insight other than living here, but my theories:

1) Vibes are just kinda bad for Trump this week, even in a right-wing hellscape. Different week, different outcome

2) There is very little traditional GOP rationale they can drag out and polish up to excuse mid-cycle redistricting.

Unless he is somehow bolstering anti-Trump feelings completely behind the scenes and somehow not making even the tiniest of waves in local news and social circles. Possible. But seems too cloak and dagger for Mother's best boy.

As a Hoosier, respectfully -- who? That man ceded what little jus' folks rural credibility he had to Greg.

Ol' Mikey is firmly labeled traitor and one of those Washington types. Neither Trumpists nor old line GOPers care to hear from him. Or trust him one bit.

Don't forget to update your mental MIB blocklist to include anything with a statistically unusual number of Zs, but do whitelist pizza or you'll miss out on the latest from Domino's, which would be a shame.

It's crazy all these Bsky snobs so baffled by the superior McDonald's round egg.
December 6, 2025 at 8:24 PM
Yes, round egg. An actual cracked-on-the-griddle egg instead of liquid egg product, scrambled.

Bluesky can keep being too good for the sausage egg cheese biscuit, sub round egg and the OTT delight of The Big Breakfast with Hot Cakes sub round egg.

More for the rest of us happy losers.
