Grad student of theology and writer. Longing for Japanese trucks, mechs, sensible zoning laws, God’s justice, and the cold embrace of Canadian winter.
I know what you mean. Here: This squirrel posed quite perfectly for me the other day.

Nay! The Canada Jay deserves the title. He’s smart, cute, and resilient!

Is this a JoJo reference?

I don’t think this conversation is really going to go anywhere. I hope you have a nice day. Here’s a photo of a beaver I saw earlier.

Don’t forget the OG! The Great Auk was the first Penguin of them all (even if they weren’t related to these penguins in any way)

Eating Canadian treats to spite the tariffs. These things were so much a part of my childhood. Vive le Canada 🇨🇦

Hey I mean if we’re going off of Gundam lore then it seems Mobile Suits are the future military strategy of choice for Canada too. Gundams are always a good choice for fighting facism right?

Nothing like a prairie sky.

Here is your reminder of our (unofficial) national bird, the Canada Jay (also known as the Whiskyjack), he’s smart, he’s hardy, and he’s cute. A proud bird to represent us. (Artist is Mark Nadjiwan)

Wow, that’s a super fluffy one. Almost can’t see the flaps. Mine’s a little less floof. This isn’t mine, but it’s something similar to what mine looks like: (flaps down)

Gorgeous night a few nights back. Full moon across the frozen prairies. My dog was feeling photogenic for me

Y’all I saw an Anna’s Hummingbird yesterday. Just beeping away that little fellow. Vancouver’s weather amazes me and bewilders me. Hummingbirds in winter? Who knew such a thing was possible

As a Christmas gift I finally was able to find my bird of the day! Black capped Chickadee. Seems a suitable bird for Christmas

Not a paid subscriber, so can’t read this. But on the note of your thumbnail I love seeing different renditions of the Christmas story that are more culturally located. Reminds us of what He did then. This is one of my favourites, by William Kurelek. “Stand in for the Christmas Stable, Alberta”

Had to share my new hat. Trying to do my part to bring back fun hats in Canadian fashion. Crown caps is the brand, super happy with it. Check them out.

Forgot to post my lecture bird doodles. Attempted a waxwing, he ended up a little chubby though.

It’s not for everyone. But for some of us it’s the highlight of the year. I love the winter, though after about 6 months of it (depending on the year), it can get excessive.

Winter Meadows

Took this photo when I was working on grooming my Nordic ski trail. We had a really weird summer and fall, resulting in the canola coming back after it was harvested. So we got a second bloom just before the winter set in. As a result we have a bunch of frozen flowers now. So cool.
