i am chronically astounded that the fandom either ignores that he’s using Charlie, denies that he could possibly be exploiting her maliciously, or prioritises his goals for doing that over Charlie’s entire character

and in general Charlie thinks the best of everyone and gets distracted to the point of naivety; while Alastor clearly considers himself above Charlie, at least when it comes to “guiding her potential”

in the pilot, she’s desperate for someone to offer material aid and support for the Hotel, and he leverages that

like the show makes it clear despite Charlie’s age, in maturity she’s closer to a human in their mid-20s *and* is rather sheltered. Alastor is more worldly, and it’s very apparent in their dynamic that he does hold the balance of power in the situations where he manipulates her
