Writing Tip:
Sleep is the bedrock of writing. If you're not getting enough sleep, you're not going to write well. Even if you're a night owl, you still need a certain amount of shuteye for the brain to function. Take care of yourself, and your writing will improve.

If you're completely bouncing off a scene, it might be your brain telling you that something is wrong. You could spend hours and hours agonizing over what that is, OR you can delete some of it and try again. The second option often has better results.

As a writing exercise, take a fundamental pillar of your worldbuilding and change it. See what happens. What if money no longer existed? What if your entire fantasy world flooded? How would your world adapt? What would need to change to make it work?

Even if you're not planning on editing yet, reread your stuff. Not all the time, not obsessively, but regularly. Just read it. It'll not only help solidify your story in your head, but it can actually be a lot of fun to revisit a story you wrote. Try it!

For Christians, the path forward has always been clear and well articulated in scripture: feed the hungry, shelter the homeless, welcome the immigrant, heal the sick, visit the prisoner, actively love the neighbor.

And who is my neighbor? Everyone.

Everyone.

Writing Tip:
Have a scratch pad for your rough work. This should be separate from your main document so that you can try your experimental work there rather than trying to shove it into the main doc. It'll keep things nice and organized.

As the writer, you are essentially the camera watching everyone. You get to control the camera lens and decide what to focus on. But sometimes, it's better to turn the 'Big Brother' cameras off for a bit and leave a scene to an audience's imagination.

As you write, it's often a good idea to have a scratchpad of rough notes available. Just to jot those sudden 'off the top of your head' ideas onto before you forget it. Nothing is worse than putting aside a good idea to keep writing and forgetting it!

Writing Tip:
A character's 'fatal flaw' is something in their personality that brings them to ruin despite their other positive qualities. For example, Greek hero Odysseus, despite being clever, had the fatal flaw of pride, which led to A LOT of suffering.

Writing Tip:
Your hero can have negative qualities that the audience doesn't like. That makes them feel more human and/or it means they have room to improve through their character arc. However, the risk is those qualities being too strong so the audience hates them.

When you take a break away from your work, try not to fixate on it during that time. If you do, you're not really taking a break. You gotta let that part of your brain relax so that it doesn't burn out when you start the engine again.

Nobody is perfect, which means you aren't either. You're bound to make mistakes in your writing. But that's great! Mistakes aren't a sign of failure. They're the chance to learn, grow and improve! And there's always room for improvement!

Monologues can often come across as dry/expositional. Break up those monologues by turning it into a conversation! Ask, answer, and provide context. Go on tangents and crack jokes. A conversation has a lot more tools to convey information to the audience.

Characters do not always need to make the most 'logical' decisions. They can make errors based on their flaws or lack of information. If everyone always acted rationally and logically, there wouldn't be much room for storytelling.
