That is what Terry Pratchett described as a vile accuracy.

Okay that is *awful*, props

I went for it in lockdown. It was like a book a day.

I adore all her historical romances (Wild Sweet Love and Raven are just perfect books) but can I also commend the Blessings series, which is basically small town soap opera crack and I inhaled ten books in a row.

Publisher.
January 9, 2026 at 11:13 AM
That would be a shame all round. sigh.
January 9, 2026 at 11:03 AM
I would really like it if a publisher actually did some research into how many people this actively attracts vs how many it repels. I suspect there's a very specific (BookTok) niche of readers trained to embrace it.
January 9, 2026 at 10:56 AM
That's really unfair on the author, who had no say in what the publisher put in the metadata.
January 9, 2026 at 10:41 AM
did you get hit by the fad for tagging the cited author on SM so the publisher would tweet "for fans of @freyamarske" or whatever? I assume it fizzled out after enough authors sent death threats.
January 9, 2026 at 10:15 AM
Total gold rush nonsense. "Yes! We can hoover up everyone who's googling for 'cosy fantasy grumpy/sunshine heartwarming'!" say publishers, apparently under the impression that that's how readers ever find books.
January 9, 2026 at 10:13 AM
yeah, no, I hate that.
January 9, 2026 at 10:08 AM
Yeah, in the metadata, shows up like this (title blurred bc it's not the unfortunate author's fault that publisher marketing depts have gone feral)
January 9, 2026 at 10:07 AM
A second chance...to die.
January 9, 2026 at 9:59 AM
Honestly, my condolences to the author. I'd go *spare*.
January 9, 2026 at 9:59 AM
It is a fantastic book and you should read it BTW
January 9, 2026 at 9:49 AM
WHY WOULD THEY DO THIS TO MS BEV
WHY

and wow 'blistering' is not a word I want attached to romance novels because my mind goes in a fully medical direction
January 9, 2026 at 9:49 AM
let me add that whenever the guff says "the TikTik sensation" the book goes off my possibles list as though it had bubonic plague
