Not even the biggest Marty Supreme fan, but I really want the legend Jack Fisk to finally get his #Oscars win.

There are two Scorsese narrative films that I haven't seen.

After tonight, they'll be just one. Which is a really sad thought actually. Maybe I'll never watch New York, New York, just so that I know they'll always be some undiscovered country.

Rewatching one of last year's top 5.

DiCaprio and Hawke are both perfect in their respective 2025 masterworks. Either would be an amazing Oscar winner.

Interstellar has overtaken Barbie as @letterboxd.social's most logged movie.

Crazy that the difference between the top two movies, movies released almost a decade apart from each other no less, is just 0.0027%.

It's really slippery out in Toronto tonight. So I'm watching Fargo.

More Orson Welles tonight.

This is a great double feature with The Royal Tenenbaums, of course.

May do that. We'll see how I feel after 90 minutes of absurd but gorgeous theatricality.

Continuing the Harry Palmer series.

The first left me wanting in every way other than Caine and the cool, lived-in feel of 60s Europe, but this one is directed by Guy Hamilton, who did Goldfinger and Evil Under the Sun, so we'll see.

"This isn't that kind of movie."

Welles's F For Fake is so fun. Hard to place and therefore underseen, under-discussed, and woefully underrated, but it's gorgeous, endlessly clever and fun, and surprisingly philosophical.

On the Criterion Channel.

Watching The Ipcress File (1965), the first in Caine's Harry Palmer not-Bond-Bond movies, a hard movie to find.

21st century filmgoers forget Lubitsch, but it's all here. And so musically and earnestly.

Now for something completely different, my first 2026 movie.

Feels like Nolan really departed from the source material here, but when you're dealing with an epic poem from 2,700 years ago, I guess you have to take some liberties to bring it to 21st century screens.

My earliest memory of having my mind blown by a movie is the dragon fight in this.

I don't really remember anything else about it. Let's see.

Happy weekend.

Continuing my snowed-in-with-classic-Disney-animation evening

It's surprising seeing all the RKO Pictures logos on these huge movies. People forget, or don't realize, that it was a major player in Hollywood's golden age before Howard Hughes sunk the company.

Hot take: A minor factor in the drop-off of comic book movies is that superheroes are often inherently fascist and now is not the time for such nonsense.
