I was only a youth referee, so my experience is bounded, but it seems to me that in terms of match management, if a primary goal as a center referee is to try to have 11v11 until the end of the game you're more likely to lose control of a match.

I'd forgotten how much good stuff there is in Unfinished Tales and how much of it is in service to the meta-narrative of the origin of the tales. This is from a *note* explaining how the scene of Isildur's death in "The Disaster of the Gladden Fields" was surmised, though there were no witnesses.

I had this same experience. I would ride my bike everywhere around San Diego, and this tape spent a lot of time in my walkman.
