You know what would go a long way toward solving many problems? Term limits. For everyone. Federal, state, local. No more lifetime appointments for anyone. How many smart, capable people with fresh ideas have been denied the chance to serve because the same people cling to power decade after decade?

Just to note. January 23, 2019 there was a vote to reopen government (HJ RES 28, roll call vote 46) when the govt had been shut down for 30 days.

Mike Johnson voted “no” on that.

They didn’t seem to mind shutdowns then
