Apparently every post from me is a 'hey, sorry I haven't posted in a while' but uhh, yeah; horror movie update time:

1. The Day of the Beast (1995, dir. Álex de la Iglesia)
2. The Vourdalak (2023, dir. Adrien Beau
3. Cure (1997, dir. Kiyoshi Kurosawa)

All highly recommended depending on your mood.

Noroi: The Curse (Koji Shiraishi, 2005)
Mad God (Phil Tippet, 2021)

Haven’t watched much or posted in a bit, things got crazy for a bit there but this is the most recent film I’ve seen; just got done watching it in fact. Despite some clunky dialogue and filmmaking, I really enjoyed it; decently creepy with a solid lead performance.

Fulci's unofficial Gates of Hell movies all kick ass, finished them recently! Very highly recommended if you enjoy low brow, gory, practical effects filled, cosmic horror leaning films. Took me a while to get to these, but I'm so glad I did.

Finally watched Terrified (dir. by Demián Rugna); absolutely fantastic! Hits way harder than it has any reason to, albeit with a final shot that made me giggle. Pretty well just pure horror, and it works so well.

Thanks to @yayforthat.bsky.social for pushing me to watch it, absolutely worth it!

This one was kind of a surprise honestly; I’d heard it was good but damn, I really enjoyed it. Felt like an eclectic mix of Evil Dead and Hereditary, and it absolutely worked for me!

Please, to anyone interested in beautiful, experimental animation and unique storytelling, do not sleep on the new Mononoke movie, the Phantom in the Rain! And if you haven’t already, the original show as well is highly worth watching!

Just watched Blood Diner, a truly insane bit of nonsense from 1987. Real dumb, exploitation horror fun! Only recommended if you like the lowest of low brow stuff, but if you do, its a gem!
