Hell yeah, actually. I gave a keynote speech at Oxford, helped fund a kid's oboe for music school, helped fund a guy's tuition at luthier school, got to meet various musicians, went on a podcast, went on TV, got featured in the newspaper...

Unfortunately for the US, Canada is really quickly pivoting a lot of industries to be either home-grown or involve Euro/Asian trading partners. The result is simply fewer buyers for American goods.

Carney politely laughed at this joke from Trump and he is already getting dragged for it. Across the political spectrum, with the exception of a minority of Canadian conservatives, people are revolted by the thought of a relationship with the Trump admin

Trump has probably forgotten what he said last week, and his admin has failed to focus on anything for more than 10-15 days at a time, but people up here haven't forgotten the 51st state stuff. Entire businesses and border industries have shut down because he can't stop yapping.

I don't think USA media covers this very much, but every time Trump makes a comment like this it gets a ton of coverage up here in Canada. More people boycott US products, more people sell their US homes, more people refund their tickets to Vegas and Disney World. And for what? A joke?

I've seen a lot of "It's hot in October b/c you're using ChatGPT to write emails" posts, and while I love and support anything that craps on AI, FWIW it's my understanding that the single most impactful thing an individual can do to lessen emissions is still to eat less meat

This is a really good encapsulation of the basic problem with this country, which is that at least since I've reached adulthood, we are consistently at the mercy of a voting block of fairly disengaged men who read at a 6th grade level. Obama won a lot of these guys, they thought he was cool!
