this is super cool
ive made some more progress on this since posting. theres still a good amount to do before i post a basic demo, tho. most particularly, id like to pre-program all the effects to make sure they can work first, then i can release and do regular updates after. itll be a while

An unused object found in Yoshi's Island is the "Overly Congratulative Green Coin". It is identical in functionality to a red coin, but plays the Perfect Clear fanfare when placed in specific areas. This causes the game to appear to unnecessarily celebrate every single coin.
