Our new paper in @agsjournal.bsky.social compares dementia end-of-life caregiving experiences. Labor of love to use poetic analysis in this secondary analysis of qualitative data, comparing #prion & #ADRD #dementia types, and develop a new conceptual model #hapc #neuropal

How have you been impacted by the changes we've seen under the current administration? What would you want to say to those in charge?

I'm launching a new research initiative to collect and share anonymous stories of the human toll. And I'd be very grateful for your help.

🚨 Action alert: Two days left!!

Help protect NSF/NIH from political interference.

👎 A new rule (Sched. F) would allow for replacing career program officers with political appointees.

➡️ Action: Object here by THIS FRIDAY. Comments can be brief and/or anonymous. Helps future litigation.

What language do you use when talking about deprescribing? Fabulous research from Nancy Schoenborn #AGS25 showing what resonates more with patients

Commonly used but data sparse for dysphasia in hospitals and nursing homes. “Thin” evidence for mortality reduction and patients dislike

Absolutely brilliant science communication by @unbiasedscipod.bsky.social and Marta Tufet of GAVI. Clear explanation of why placebo controlled trials are not required for vaccines already known to be efficacious. I had to share.

In case anyone at #AGS2025 is on #gerisky… first 24h in Chicago involved a Cubs/Giants game (and amusing rivalry between @kencovinsky.bsky.social and @lwaltermd.bsky.social) and my first @deprescribeus.bsky.social meeting!

Powerful graphic. In a single day on April 25, a DOGE-fueled NSF canceled 340,226 future days of research.

Or 932 years.

[And that’s just one of three rounds of terminations so far.]

For #TidyTuesday this week, we're looking at data on terminations of NSF grants 📊

🎨 Using colour to highlight one category
📈 Transparency to highlight the important data

"Women" were on the forbidden word list. The Women's Health Initiative helped us understand Hormone Replacement Therapy. We had this study because NIH had frequently *left women out* of their studies.

Well the NIH has cancelled the Women's Health Initiative, the largest study of women in history

It has been running continuously since 1991 and has provided massive key knowledge about diseases in women

Unreal
