In Scotland two families own more wealth than 1.3 million people.

We're one of the wealthiest countries in history, but that wealth is concentrated in the hands of a tiny few.

That's why a wealth tax on the super-rich is supported by an overwhelming majority of Scots.
STV News. Wealth tax on ten richest Scots 'could lift 30,000 children out of poverty'. A tax of 2% levied against those with assets worth £10m or more could bring in £492m a year from Scotland's ten richest families, study finds.

I've been contacted by a number of people about the tree felling at the former Carrigans at Strathaven road next to Calderglen Country Park. I'm gathering some more information and will do an update when I hear back. Thank you for highlighting this and for caring for the trees.

Three local grants closing soon - one for young people focussing on reuse, then two for communities to look at climate impacts and climate action. So whether its food, products, travel, energy, greenspaces or waste, have a look and see if these grants can help your group. Happy to help in any way.

Let me know how the weekend's storm affected you. With climate change induced more frequent and severe weather, we need take stock and adapt. That's what will be done after our climate emergency motion passed last week. Report flooding and trees down via the council's website / out of hours numbers.

Today I've joined parliamentarians from across the political spectrum in calling on Kemi Badenoch to rethink her dangerous position on the climate and net zero - a position which puts Britain's economic strength, national security, and environmental leadership at risk.

Love this. Thank you Jane Goodall. We all need hope: look to and support young people and nature to help us bounce back to a brighter future.

Last year, we were lucky enough to welcome Dr Jane Goodall to the Greenpeace stage at Glastonbury, where she shared this beautiful message of HOPE in tough times.

Rest in peace, Jane. Thank you so much for all the hope you gave to us all. 💚💚

We are delighted to see that this motion passed by @southlanarkshire.gov.uk yesterday.

We are delighted with this news, and it is fantastic to see a local authority committing to making long-lasting, positive change for the environment particularly during #ScotClimateWeek. 💚

🚨MSPs have just agreed to my @scottishgreens.org proposal to lift the cap on Council Tax for second homes & empty properties.

Scotland has 15,000 homeless children, but 21,000 second homes and 46,000 empty homes. This is a problem we can solve by 'encouraging' second/empty home owners to sell.

🚨BREAKING

40 years ago Margaret Thatcher abolished rent controls in Scotland.

The Scottish Parliament just passed a Bill introduced by the Scottish Greens, which will allow them once more!

This will keep rents affordable and offer safety and stability to renters. 🙌
Rent controls passed! homes are for living in, not for profiteering.
