This continues to get lost, but Miller is sinking massive resources into boosting the sheer numbers of deportations (to shift the ethnic mix of the country) at the expense of public safety.

This is empirically the case. It's almost never explained this way.

Thankful for this reporting, which again & again made me think about people I know who have faced similar situations, from “literal homelessness” to an air mattress in a living room, and how confluences of aid, luck, and social privilege have kept me and others out of them thus far.
