I could delete those folders entirely, but that would require sifting through them anyway to make sure I'm not accidentally deleting anything important. Before, I could safely leave them there to be searched at my leisure as needed. I could archive them, but I don't how that affects searches.

And while I realize that is a "me" problem, it was one that I previously didn't have to worry about, is my point. I didn't have to fret over which of those were important, if any. I only had to worry about my main Inbox, which now gets cluttered with every random piece of email flotsam.

There are ways to recreate the folders and label what was in said folders, but that doesn't keep them out of your main Inbox, so you still have to deal with them, unfortunately. And since they'd been out of sight, out of mind until now, I had let them pile up with no impact on my main Inbox til now.
