Today, I made perfect oatmeal.

A piece of motivation for myself today... and you, too.

We have to remember... Every story we've ever loved started as an uncertain idea. Our favorite characters were once fleeting thoughts. Every finished book was once nothing more than a blank page and...a writer. Keep writing...

Just got my car washed… Amazing how much better it runs now.

Tonight, it's Silo S2 while I outline the next few chapters of this book. Silo...it is so good.

I write in .txt files. Last night, while watching the game and having a beer, I used notes on my phone because I needed 300 more words. The slide typing was…okay. Creepy scene. Mission accomplished.

The breakfast song has been sung to the cats. Time to get to work.

I edited the 6K from yesterday then added and edited 2K more. Ran everything through Natural Reader. Sounded pretty good. May try to write some tonight but I need Mexican food and a beer first.

About to flail away at the big batch of words from yesterday. I usually start off with windmilling at it, then I might do some kicks. Let's see what happens.

My narrator, Andrew, has been busting his behind to bring this series to life. Despite living in Pasadena—right in the middle of the recent California fires—he still finished After the Impact #2 and is already working on Book 3. That kind of dedication deserves some serious appreciation.

Yesterday’s sessions went well. 5K dictated, then an extra 500 while watching conspiracy shows with the missus. Will edit all that today after a workout. Rinse…repeat…

I’m in the second hour of a planned three hour dictation marathon. I’m falling a little behind my normal pace. Taking a break for tea. I need to find the zone.

Writing has always been an escape for me, but it’s more than that. It’s a way to process, remember, and honor. I spent a lot of time with my grandfather in his final years. I tried to listen and learn. Joe, a character in Fracture, was built from those memories.

All that is gold does not glitter,
Not all those who wander are lost;
The old that is strong does not wither,
Deep roots are not reached by the frost.

Owning a cat teaches you a lot about life—and about wisdom.

You can’t force a cat to do anything. If you brush too hard, they’ll run away. If you approach them with gentleness and respect? That’s when they lean in, purr, and trust you.

Come back from lunch with the folks and find this snuggle party. Now, that looks cozy…too bad I gotta work.

Most writers do not like to dictate...but I have a way in. Try dictating in a journal first...after all, it’s just your life story. No pressure, no expectations. Over time, this process becomes conversational. You stop overthinking. The words flow. And that’s where the magic happens.

So...I'm out on the TikTac app now, feeling my way around and making friends. One thing is for sure. I could listen to Irish people talk about random stuff all day long.

Writing a post-apocalyptic story isn’t just about destruction—it’s about resilience. The world may be shattered, but survivors always find a way forward. Same goes for writing. Some days, the words flow like a river. You don’t have to be perfect. You just have to keep going. #amwriting #writingtips
