I hadn’t thought of it that way.
In the mid-70’s in the western US, the rock crowd despised pop yet somehow really loved The Who.
And, I agree that most of their work is based on really catchy tunes.
There was a crossover, my sister who loved pop went to see Tommy but so did the rock crowd.
