When physicists ask for billions of dollars, we have a plan about what we're going to do, how we're going to do it, and end up with an actual experiment to show for it, but by all means, give OpenAI the money instead so they can make their plagiarism algorithm better.

This is a great pod but Senator Sanders does make one mistake. Math and physics PhDs aren’t going into Wall Street/finance bc of the money incentive. It’s the lack of public funding for education and r&d in this country which means there aren’t enough jobs for our best and brightest in those fields
