I think John's rule is going to work pretty well for people who have publicly achieved the status of a creator such as people like himself. I wonder if people who were only privately creative but were never quite ready to go public could be an exception in the hands of somebody who cared about them.

I think that you are probably right, at least broadly.
I'm not sure how Anne Frank would fit into this. I must be too attached to guilt because I think that the desired outcome in that situation might be having people read the diary while fearing that they're doing something terribly wrong.

Symbolically I think choosing a country in Africa could be nice in many ways. Might also be defensible for as far as averaging out travel distances.

If you think about it, that could be a sign that you're making a difference. If everybody looked at it and said "it's a native garden" it would mean that the idea is already established. To them this might be something new but with your help next time they might recognize it as a native garden.
