I can give you a Thing, a dapper doctor, and this foot.

(Dark Universe rules, of course.)

Epic Universe is a theme park full of cute lil guys

You guys… I have an update.

11 months later, Universal Home Entertainment has acknowledged the error, fixed it for the forthcoming 4K disc re-release, and is sending me an updated copy!

Good things can happen!!

Saw the immortal John Carpenter and his tremendous band take us on a ride through his illustrious film career. What a gift. Happy Halloween!

Between a one free general admission ticket and a 50%-off-any-ticket coupon -- both from Midsummer Scream -- I paid $33 for two tickets to the LA Haunted Hayride this evening.

Reader, I was prompted to spend more money for perks and add-ons *five times* before I was permitted to actually check out.

In fact, if you dig deeper into their FAQ, you'll find they go out of their way to avoid giving you a direct answer about the length of the play. They keep emphasizing that you'll want to spend time in the "improved lounge experience."

The DELUSION website advises that you should allocate two hours to enjoy the themed bar ("themed" is generous) and the show itself. I would argue this language is meant to obscure the obscenely short length of the actual performance.

I won the TRON // TRON: LEGACY 4K release lottery. Thanks, Barnes & Noble!

Revisited XANADU on Kino Lorber's fabulous new 4K disc release.

The film itself is a mixed bag, but it also gifts us several bold, bonkers, and transcendent musical sequences that have never looked or sounded better. Gene Kelly's metatextual final film performance is a wonder and fitting sendoff.

Excellent review and analysis! Thank you for sharing.

Just a heads up - you've got a missing "Life" in the title of the attraction late in your writeup.

So glad we caught BOOP: THE BETTY BOOP MUSICAL before it closes on Sunday.

Its plot is patently insane. Your brain will break if you try to make sense of it. But Jasmine Amy Rogers’s turn as the title character is so effervescent - and the Pudgy puppet so adorable - that you just don’t care.

Paid my respects.

My dad finally watched my movie, DON'T PEEK (now streaming on Tubi, Found TV, and another great platform to be announced soon!)

Here are some of my favorite reactions.

I think the world was better when there were shorts before Pixar films

INDIANA JONES AND THE GREAT CIRCLE is a triumph.

It somehow avoids feeling like an UNCHARTED knockoff (I know I know) by emphasizing stealth & precision over gunplay. Troy Baker's Indy performance - in collaboration with the animation team - is a startling marvel. Tony Todd is perfection.

An alarming number of people in the LinkedIn "community" have convinced themselves that "AI stigma" or "AI bias" is a moral failure that should be denounced. You can't make this stuff up.

In happier news, I finished the initial draft for my next feature film, which we're hoping to shoot later this year.

If you haven't seen my first, DON'T PEEK, you can watch it on Tubi!

I can’t emphasize enough that @nofilmschool.bsky.social shouldn’t be encouraging AI use for screenwriting or script analysis. Come on.

Unsubscribed.

This comment on the LA Times article about the damage the curfew is causing really sums it up perfectly. Alt text is in there.

The curfew is holding the people of Downtown Los Angeles hostage. Tying its termination to the ICE raids makes no logical sense. It must end now, @mayor.lacity.gov.

New York Times already did.
