5/Look, if ppl are to be murdered in our names with our money, we have a right to know who and why, regardless of whether the person pulling the trigger has an R or D after their name. It's time to repeal the AUMF.

4/Say what you want about it, but there's a reason why the Constitution requires Congress to declare war, and we're staring it straight in the face. You can't say it was ok for Obama to order drone strikes, but not Trump. We stepped onto the slippery slope on 9/12 and now we've reached the bottom.

3/Guess what justification Trump used for unilateral strikes against Venezuela? Ding, ding, ding! That's right - 9/11! What did Venezuela have to do with 9/11, you ask? Not a goddamn thing. But neither did Syria, Libya, Somalia, or Iraq, for that matter. Guess what justification we used there?

2/His job is not to cultivate followers, it's to report on what's going on. I don't always agree with his takes, but I've been reading Matt for 15 years. He's calling it as he sees it, but I digress. Matt calls out what we're all ignoring, what we've BEEN ignoring for 24 years - Presidential power.

3/If you're a multimillionaire politician, how about shutting the hell up and letting ppl decide for themselves what works best for their communities? Novel idea! Bc when times get hard, guess what - we're on our own ANYWAY!

2/Look, *no* economic system is a panacea and we need to stop acting like fscking children about it. A successful society would take the best of all systems, use what works and discard the rest, and stop tying our futures to the ideology of the ignorant who have no stake in the outcome.

6/Caroline Fraser's writing puts you inside the harrowing events her family endured, several of which on their own would destroy lesser families, but these were strong ppl. Laura Ingalls Wilder was a real person who lived during a unique period in history and her story is well worth the read. 💙📚

5/Forget the claptrap of the books and TV show. Underneath is the story of a headstrong, intelligent woman who desired more than society was willing to allow women in the 19th and 20th (and 21st) centuries. The real story shines thru in the supporting materials - journals, memoirs, and records. 💙📚

4/You can't help but feel the Universe dispensed a bit of justice on the Plains settlers for their broken treaties and environmental destruction. The big lie that "rain follows the plow" led to decades of starvation and despair for which Laura had a front row seat as described in her memoirs. 💙📚

3/21st century hardships are easy mode compared to what settlers endured on the Great Plains of the 19th century. The book opens on the heartbreaking tale of the Native Americans making their last stand against manifest destiny, and continues thru Laura's childhood of wander across the Midwest. 💙📚

2/I've always loved the Little House TV show. There's something about early American frontier life that appeals to me; most likely the fantasy of simplicity, free from the messiness IRL. Of course, that's all it is - fantasy - as Caroline Fraser's immaculately researched book lays bare. 💙📚

Oh, it's not quite that bad, I've just been so immersed in business and politics and stuff lately, I just needed a little break 😊 Actually loving the book! I have this weird multi-tasking where I'll be working on 3 books at a time sometimes lol

And you as well my friend! ⚡❤️

2/I'm going to do some lighter fare first, like Brian Anderson's Wall of Sound book, and the book Murderland, about serial killers in the Northwest. Tho with that one, I'm just swapping out one group of sociopaths for another 😜 I'll return to it in December with the full review to follow!
