I am begging y’all to read at least one book. I promise it will help yall put these things into context. I think a really great one that threads the needle for how many shitty ppl with shitty beliefs have been president is “To Make Men Free” by Heather Cox Richardson

It’s starts with Lincoln.

I know that y’all are anxious and overwhelmed and like to pretend American history starts in the 20th century, but I’m gonna need folks to stop saying things about this being a lowest point when speaking about a nation that engaged in Native genocide and chattel slavery for hundreds of years

Can't emphasize enough how this need is still urgent regardless of the news right now or tomorrow or next week or next month... we didn't have enough money today such that one family gave their share from the giving circle to another for a tent...

Please share, 24 hours left ⚠️ I often parrot “bet on life” from Samidoun’s special report about resistance in Jenin camp. Because mutual aid is existential: every alleviation matters. Every act of support is faith in Palestinian life.

Six families, food & shelter. 0/640: chuffed.org/project/hope...
A square white graphic. On the left is a stylized ink illustration of a kestrel falcon in black on white, without outline just the black marks on its wings and face, drawn from behind. His wings are partly open and his head is turned to the right. In his beak is an anemone poppy in red ink with a green stem. On the right is the title "Keep hope alive: a gaza giving circle" in ink-effect font. The text says "We are a team of volunteers in the US and UK helping our friends on the ground keep their families and neighbors alive with food, water, & shelter. We distribute your contributions equally every week for sustainable support." In the bottom right corner in green text is the link https://tinyurl.com/HopeGivingCircle.

The acting CDC director has finally signed off on the vaccine advisory panel's recommendations for the COVID vaccines.

While the CDC is trying to sell this as a win for antivaxxers, in reality this means that COVID vaccines will be more accessible than they have been in recent weeks.
CDC Immunization Schedule Adopts Individual-Based Decision-Making for COVID-19 and Standalone Vaccination for Chickenpox in Toddlers

ATLANTA—October 6, 2025— The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) today updated its adult and child immunization schedules to apply individual-based decision-making to COVID-19 vaccination and recommend that toddlers receive protection from varicella (chickenpox) as a standalone immunization rather than in combination with measles, mumps, and rubella vaccination. The immunization schedules adopt recent recommendations by the CDC Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP), which were approved last week by Acting Director of the CDC and Deputy Secretary of Health and Human Services Jim O’Neill. The schedules will be updated on CDC.gov by October 7, 2025.

If we're at the place where the president is calling for a governor to be jailed for no good reason, our democracy is in real danger.

Anyone concerned about the balance of power between states and the federal government should speak out now against this authoritarian posturing.

We are never gonna really truly get our shit together until we acknowledge that authoritarianism for some of Americans has been around from jump. We will never be free until we address the big racist elephant in the room. Idk how many times ppl need to point this out.

A pink banner titled “Keep hope alive: a Gaza giving circle,” with the text: “We are a team of volunteers in the US and UK helping our friends on the ground keep their families and neighbors alive with food, water, & shelter. Banning “dangerous gain-of-function” pathogen research is actually just banning pathogen research. TB causes chronic disease, the supposed cornerstone of the MAHA movement. Hard to see ending TB research on treatments as anything but another targeted attack on science in service of destroying it.

Over the weekend ICE abducted an NIH contractor when he showed up to a courthouse for his green card hearing. He is documented. His wife is a citizen.

He is also member of the skeleton crew of animal care staff that works through a shutdown, to ensure the health and wellbeing of research animals.

This is just more fear mongering from a president who wants a blank check for lawlessness. It won't work.

Red Stars Interim Head Coach Anders Jacobson on what happened after the whistle
Q: Could you tell us a bit about what happened after the final whistle? (Lesley Ryder)

There is emotions when you end the game, and in this case, I think the Chicago Stars today did many good things. I think the team deserved to win. I think we created enough of chances during maybe until the 75 minute.

But there were some incidents during the game which made the game a bit difficult for us and when the game then is is clear, and we have 2-2, which I was, I wanted the team today to not leave this pitch without any points. And I was just emotional for me, seeing that they did it.

And those emotions were there, maybe I should have handled it a bit better. But I also think sometimes, I think it's important for every person to reflect on in general, in life, what kind of values you'd want to follow. And I tried to follow mine today, which made it a bit rough.

Follow-Up: Did Utah do anything specifically that made you feel so passionate at the end? (Joe Chatz)

I think they tried the best they could today, really, they wanted to make it hard for us.

There were some moments I think that was hard for them, and with some of those occasions, there were maybe some players that was a bit injured and needed treatment, which I think was very fair. But then you there were some things sometimes happening after that that I maybe felt was a bit strange.
