ICYMI, deep-sea mining is in the news again.

If you need a break from holiday cheer, you can learn why seabed mining is in the news, where it’s being considered, who’s behind it, and how the Trump administration is pursuing the option. And what potatoes have to do with it. eos.org/tag/deep-sea...

Glutamate is the primary molecule that neurons use to communicate with each other.

Previously, scientists have mostly recorded when neurons fire output signals, but now with a new glutamate indicator, they can record the many inputs that causes cells to fire. 🧵

1. 🚨 A RAND Corporation study found that roughly $80 trillion was siphoned from the middle class & working poor to the top 0.01% over recent decades, a direct consequence of Reagan-era rollbacks of Roosevelt’s New Deal. Not coincidentally, that same period marked the explosion of the national debt.

"The first study exploring the problem was published in 2004 by then–high school student Sarah Mims and her father, who used a smoke detector attached to a kite to collect fungal samples and correlate them with smokey days."

Wow! Cool start to an important field of study.

Scripture says you can’t love God and hate other people.

You can’t love God and abuse the immigrant.

You can’t love God and bully the outcast.

You can’t love God and oppress the poor.

In the face of a neighbor, we glimpse the face of God.
