My postbag has been filled with letters from constituents asking me to sign the #StopRosebank pledge. It's something I'm happy to back, because I support a just transition and fixing the UK’s broken energy system so we can mitigate climate breakdown through real solutions.

2/2 Staff and patients are worried about service pressures, safety, and financial planning. I’ll continue to work to ensure that local voices of staff, patients and local people are heard.

1/2 I've written to the Health Minister and Norfolk & Suffolk ICB about concerns raised during the merger of our local NHS boards. This reorganisation affects how care is delivered across both counties.

I am deeply shocked and saddened by the horrific attack outside a Manchester synagogue on Yom Kippur. My thoughts are with the victims, their loved ones, and the entire Jewish community. We must stand together, resolute against antisemitism and hatred in all its forms.

A third person, the suspect, was shot dead by police - video showed a man with items strapped around his waist. The attack happened on Yom Kippur, the holiest day in the Jewish calendar.

Public disillusionment with the political class isn’t a passing phase.

It's the reality of a system where the dividing line between the state - and wealth, oligarchs and corporate power - has been systematically erased.

One million people have already signed a petition against ID cards.

If we’re serious about rebuilding trust, this is the last place to start.

It's like deciding to become a pacifist and then walking into your roughest local pub and knocking everyone's pints out of their hands.

Along with 60 parliamentarians, I've written to the Prime Minister calling on him to abolish the two-child benefit cap.

This policy continues to inflict severe and avoidable hardship on families across the country. Its abolition must be central to any credible child poverty strategy.

"Farage & Tommy are fuelled by cheques from billionaires & promotion across their media empires." 🤜

Yesterday, the largest far-right protest in UK history marched through London, led by racist Tommy Robinson.

Today, we say: They don’t speak for us — and they won’t have the last word.

This Wednesday we come together against Trump and for a better future. Do everything to be there.

Organisers of Saturday’s Stop Rosebank event reported strong public support and thoughtful conversations throughout the day. Most people they spoke with agreed that the oilfield is a poor deal for Britain and a serious risk to the climate.

These are practical steps that reduce emissions and improve energy security.

I was pleased to see people in Norwich making their voices heard.

I oppose the development of Rosebank. I support a properly funded transition for oil and gas workers and affected communities. The UK needs to fix its energy system by scaling up renewables, cutting reliance on fossil fuels and insulating homes.
labourlewis.bsky.social
Rosebank remains the UK’s largest undeveloped oil field. In January, the Edinburgh court ruled that its approval was unlawful due to the scale of the emissions involved. The Labour government now faces a decision on whether to re-approve the project under a revised regime.

The Prime Minister needs to clarify what legal advice has been received about the visit by Israel's President Isaac Herzog to the UK, and whether his entry is compatible with our obligations under the Genocide Convention.

We’ve seen this story before, and we know where it leads. Our city is better than this, and we must stand together to say: not in our name, and not on our streets.”
labourlewis.bsky.social
But the mask always slips. Watch the video; it’s not about women’s safety, it’s not about patriotism, it’s not about common sense. It’s about racism and intimidation, scapegoating vulnerable people to divide our communities and poison our politics.
labourlewis.bsky.social
And let’s be clear: the same people turn up at so-called ‘protests’ outside temporary accommodation for asylum seekers. They wrap themselves in the language of protecting women, defending British pride, or being ‘just right, not far-right.’
labourlewis.bsky.social
These are the tactics of the far right, overt racists and fascists. From Oswald Mosley’s Brownshirts in the 1930s to the National Front in the 1970s, and now here in our city, the pattern remains the same.
labourlewis.bsky.social
They cheer the fact that they’re outside ‘a mosque’, then climb a ladder to hang a St George’s Cross flag from a lamp post, weaponising a national symbol to try to intimidate part of our community.

There’s no ambiguity here. This is racism, pure and simple.

“Everyone should watch the video for themselves. One member of the group laughingly refers to somebody as a ‘black cunt’ and threatens to ‘knock them out.’
labourlewis.bsky.social
The group chanted aggressively, revved motorbikes, and shouted slogans like “whose streets, our streets” while filming the entire display.

Videos posted online included racist language and footage of members confronting locals. Here's the full response I gave.
