I just witnessed the aftermath of (yet another) cyclist getting hit by a driver turning right, this time at Elgin and Lisgar. Grateful to all of the helpful witnesses, paramedics, fire and police who rushed to the scene. But this needs to end, we need Vision Zero now.

There are not enough employers who value the skills that come with studying history.

Delusions aside, overall people have a REALLY poor understanding of what historians actually *DO* and what the whole point is.

VR 3D Oda Nobunaga is not shedding light on the Battle of Anegawa because *it's not Oda Nobunaga.* It's just a fancy prepackaging of the things we already know.
My optimistic view is that we end up with better AIs that are able to assist Historians, based on authoritative datasets from institutions that is able to offer contextual nuance. We could provide a more immersive experience of history in the future with the assistance of different AIs.
This incredibly worrying study suggests Historians are the 2nd most likely occupation to be supplanted by AI.

That’s despite the fact that current AI history output is wildly unreliable, unsourced, hallucinates fale events, sources, and previous historians!!

Yay 😬😩🤪

Immersion prefers narrative over source criticism, fill-in-the-blanks over cautious argument, pseudo-„authenticity“ over reflection. It has long been a shibboleth of historians, in TV, film and games. And it’s made a million times worse by an AI that disguises its mediality.

„Immersive“ is exactly the opposite of what the field of history is trying to achieve.

The PM is wearing his Officer of the Order of Canada insignia. He is the first ORC member to become PM. Generally, ex-PMs are appointed Companions after retiring but it is never automatic.

HMTK is wearing his ORC insignia and the Canadian Forces' Decoration with three bars. The King earned his CD + bars and has always included it among his many honours.

Canada stands shoulder to shoulder with Greenland.

Today's dance expresses solidarity with the resilient Greenlandic Inuit people and all other communities who form the lovely fabric of Greenland.

Invaders may persist, but your resilience will prevail.

Finally, and ironically, the best protection against a rogue executive in Westminster states is arguably the Crown's personal prerogatives!
