It still wrecks me that Drift loses every person he comes to care about. One of the biggest reasons I like to write fix-it fic, ha.

And I think its less that Drift wasn't satisfied being a Decepticon and more that the Cons and the Cause grew into something he didn't sign up for.

Right?! It broke him and freed him at the same time. If he'd never turned to violence, he probably would have died in the gutters. Beautifully tragic and ironic. I wish we'd gotten more of his early life.

I think Gasket's death and Drift's time training/mercing in the underworld were pretty substantial stepping stones towards the Decepticons. The latter is what got him noticed by Megatron afterall.
