Get your flu shots people. Last year was the worst flu season in 10 years and don't love even a small regional slice like this looking much worse already.
For reference national data for last season: bsky.app/profile/pear...
In Texas' public health region 6/5S, which includes Houston, the number of emergency department visits for influenza is already almost on par with the *peak* of last year.

Jane Goodall was my first childhood hero, as I loved animals as a kid and was inspired by her story. I still remember the National Geographic specials about her. RIP.

🗣️ LIBRARIES ARE COOLING CENTERS!

Beat the heat by visiting your local library for air conditioning. Please be kind if their AC is on the fritz! They are doing their best, just like you 🩵

Why is this? 🧵

There is a crisis in Gaza. They are starving. They need you, need us! 💔

No child, no one should go hungry. Feeling helpless is a response of human kindness. Doing something is a response of human kindness. Using your voice is a response, it is human kindness.

This is not political, this is human ❤️‍🩹

In the face of protest, police must embrace their role as guardians for all Americans
When police lose sight of their role as guardians, and when adversarial strategies creep into our response to protests, we lose legitimacy.

Do you know about the Juneteenth flag?

Its colors are red, white, and blue…on purpose.

Every element, from the star to the curve to the colors, shouts that Black people are an integral part of the U.S. story, not apart from it.

Today in 1215 King John reluctantly affixed his seal to Magna Carta, a document which placed restrictions on his royal power.

It has come to represent the centuries long battle to restrain capricious, insane, despotic leaders.

That's a work in progress
