All very relatable. But that grappling is part of sharing everyday life with and caring for kids—which puts you ahead of many who speak for/write about/act as representatives of children. (Also hope you enjoy the book!)

The more we develop this political discourse, the more it will be necessary to hold those who speak for kids accountable to listening to kids and helping to care for them. Otherwise wtf are you doing.

I’ve found it incredibly disturbing, throughout writing my book, to encounter this problem over and over again.

Am as invested in these inclusions as I am in the exclusions of American Psycho, Requiem and Castaway

If you did a bunch of wild and provocational stuff on here, paired with some imagery, and posted that consistently between 10-2 every night for 6-8 weeks, I think around a dozen or more people would have dreams in which you at least briefly appear. I think you should start today.

There’s also this amazing film series being organized in Philly, dedicated to the films analyzed in the book, starting with my favorite, Bambule 🔥

There’s a huge pressure to stop these individual themed courses in UC. We’ve been told they make us look like amateur researchers rather than specialists. Stopped doing this in our WP last year in fear of budget cuts.

Largely but tell someone in a UC WP they’re doing “comp/rhet” and you may catch some serious shade. I’ve been doing this for a very long time and still don’t really understand it. Either way we’re “service departments” of 75-90% adjuncts.

Not to jump on with more exceptions but does seem noteworthy that the UC system, largest public university system in US, has WPs.
