It's why I converted my back-zip jumpsuit pattern into pants and top (both with side zippers). Will post the 2nd making of it soon. Butterick 6130 #garmentsewing

Both are fun! The elastic waist on the 2nd might be more forgiving. Think about bra wearing for both. If the first has back zipper...think about how to use restroom.

When I was in high school and used my mom's sewing machine it has one of those. Worked great.

Is the bodice 'gathered' to fit the collar? If so, be sure to use TWO lines of basting for the gathers. Some patterns don't say to do that, but it makes the gathers so much more even.

Your V front on the shirt is BEYOND perfect! I never get them to look that good.

Just be aware the free Mood patterns vary widely in the quality of the instructions. Some are great, so are severely lacking.

I keep track of fabric I've used w/reviews. My review for a chiffon: "NO - OMG - never sew with polyester chiffon again. Impossible to cut correctly, and cut edges frayed like crazy. It dropped a LOT of tiny pieces too - as if it was asbestos."

(I've heard silk chiffon is easier to work with.)

I bought a set of 32 presser feet; two of them help with stitching in the ditch:

Open Toe Embroidery Foot - the open toe allows me to see where the needle is hitting.

Patchwork Edge Joining Stitch Foot - it has a metal bar you put in the seam, and the needle will hit right there.

Oh, and I would be remiss if I failed to acknowledge where I got the idea for how to use this fabric I bought on a whim: www.katmakes.com/blog/2018/7/...

Very nice!

And over here pants are always too short for me (unless I buy 'long')...but petite shirts often fit better due to short arms. 🫠

I tend to buy from ebay where someone has a bunch of uncut patterns for sale. Just make sure they are less expensive than buying new (simplicity.com often has good sales).

I used the #closetCore trouser class to sew my first pair of Mitchells. When the time comes to cut the fabric for the welt pocket scary music plays. 😂

Good job on the welt!
