Linguist, mainly focused on historical change and contact in northern Africa (Arabic, Berber, Songhay - and now Nilotic...)
If AI search on Google worked the way AI search does on Google Scholar - carefully selecting and annotating links, rather than leading with a bogus summary intended to distract from the links - we'd all be better off.

Argentinean history interacts massively with British; nobody on earth has "no connections" with anyone, let alone with their nearest neighbours. Falklanders have the right to self-determination because it's their land; imagining a history of perfect isolation is not helpful.

I'm no Syriac expert, but let's see if I can transcribe the Syriac (correct me!):

"saddānā d-qaynāyē kaḏ blaʕ mardē rḏē, u-hū lā margeš. enā meškaḥ-nā l-mēmar ayleyn d-menneḵ meṯmallelān aḵ nḥāšā ḏ-zāʔeq aw ṣēṣlā ḏ-yaḇ qālā. hāleyn d-lā mpannīn peṯgāmā ḏ-qālā meddem aw ḥaylā ḏ-iḏaʕṯā wa-ḏ-sukkālā."

I mean, the semantic shift seems pretty obvious after spending a winter on the coast of Algeria; winter is pretty rainy!

As you probably know, the Makhuwa expression looks like a calque of the Arabic one: Allāhu ʔaʕlam "God is the more knowledgeable"
