Can someone on here please explain to me all the excitement over China's electrification? China set up a lot of power lines, but 65% of electricity generation is still from fossil fuels (blue). What matters is how electricity gets generated and whether you're self-sufficient. Not power lines...

The Dollar has recovered from its lows earlier this year. That's not a sign how great the US is, but - above all - a sign how weak the rest of the world is, especially the Euro. In currency space, you only have to be better than the next guy and the Dollar remains far superior to all alternatives...

The debate on the Euro is shifting. A growing number of mainstream economists are pointing out that ECB backstops for high-debt countries put debt on an unsustainable path. That shouldn't need saying, but in the Euro zone it does. The ECB needs profound reform and must be forced out of debt markets.

@neandertaljustice.bsky.social Er zijn meerdere hypotheses over het verdwijnen van Neanderthalers. Waarschijnlijk was het een combinatie van factoren. Dat de laatste Homo Sapiens migratie uit Afrika wel succesvol was, werd recentelijk gekoppeld aan de adaptatie aan wisselende omstandigheden.

Anyone wondering why “the #global community,” “the #West,” etc. hardly reacts to injustice, humanitarian disasters, etc. has missed the tectonic shift that has taken place since 2000. Anyone who puts pressure on a Chinese company without taking into account #China's reaction is living in the past.

Wie zich afvraagt waarom ‘de #wereldgemeenschap’, ‘het #westen’, etc. nauwelijks meer reageert bij onrecht, humanitaire rampen, etc. heeft de tectonische verschuiving sinds 2000 gemist. Wie een Chinees bedrijf in de tang neemt en geen rekening houdt met de reactie van #China, leeft in het verleden.

(Bij) één op de duizend demonstraties wordt geweld gebruikt. Klein bier vergeleken bij bijvoorbeeld het wekelijkse voetbalgeweld. Toch pleit niemand voor inperking van het recht om te voetballen.
