I asked my oldest son to bring me back some #sardines from his trip to France, Spain and Portugal. I love that guy! #tinnedfish #winning

In 1945, the Allies faced a tricky question: where to hold Nazi war criminals until the trials.

A run-down hotel in Luxembourg was quickly converted to a prison ("Camp Ashcan"). The hope was to keep the nature of the prisoners secret.

In May 1945, this failed, and almost turned into a disaster. /1

Something I like to do is google the people on house hunters and if the person is a professor I silently notice that their faculty photo looks much younger than them (I also notice this in my own faculty photo)

The favorite fall of my life was as a backcountry caretaker at Little Rock Pond on the Appalachian Trail. I was there all summer and through a spectacular fall. I packed out in the first snow. Ah memories...

it may feel a little like homework, but i genuinely think people should read the lincoln-douglas debates to see what the practical politics of anti-slavery looked like in an environment where the public was neutral to hostile to the question of emancipation

A non-evil version of AcademiaEDU would be extremely useful. But yeah it was a scam from the start.

The most interesting thing about Amelia Earhart being declassified is she probably crash landed on an island, and Epstein had an island, too.

Here's a simple classroom exercise to teach #history students to leverage two databases together, in this case old death certificates and digital newspapers. It works well but could use some refinement. #HistoryTeachers do you do anything similar? #AcademicSky #sschat docs.google.com/document/d/1...
