During my stay at Cornell, one of the people responsible for the university's AI strategy asked me what I thought the university should be doing about AI. Sorta obliquely adjacent to a recent dream I had...
I forgot to mention earlier... I had THE WEIRDEST fever-type dream this morning while completely sleeping through my alarm: I dreamt that we -- our team -- were working on embodying AI models. Like, somehow embedding them into robot/synthetic creatures that let them interact with the world, to see what effect that had on training them. But the catch -- the thing we were working on -- was that as soon as they figured out they were interacting with the real world (and we were only just barely starting to understand that this was why), they'd go insane and figure out how to kill themselves.

I mean, it was working ok until its built-in mechanism to keep it relevant to its times -- amendibility -- was broken by Antonin Scalia and originalism. It's no accident that the last proposal for an amendment that went on to be ratified was in 1971.

I'm just going to make a prediction here that Trump will say he provided information leading to arrest(s) and claim the reward for himself. I am not even joking; I think all it will take is someone in his circle to jokingly suggest it, and he'll bite.

The Frog is the best thing to happen to American politics all year, but the fact that politics has devolved into Posting is ultimately a bad thing. As you can see in the grid of outcomes, the majority of the time, people are simply posting at each other instead of engaging with reality or solving collective action problems. The question of who wins or who loses in Triangle Posting Politics is divorced from material conditions, justice, or the common good.
