I really do not understand the shelf life of Skyrim. I played it. I enjoyed. I completed most of the possible quests. I just never saw a reason to play it again.

An important realization for me in getting over my self-hatred was that "forgiving myself" wasn't the right way to go about it. "Forgive" implies that I did something wrong. The actual path forward was realizing that hating myself was bullshit. There was, in fact, no reason to hate myself.

Read this damn thread.
Since we're in the grundle of the year, there's something I want to suggest to folks that will make the new year a hell of a lot better all around: pay attention to what you're paying attention to. That is: be aware of what you're consuming and WHY you're consuming it.

When I found out that I was #autistic, this came as a complete surprise to literally just me. At least one friend in every friend group exclaimed, "You didn't know!?" #ADHD and trauma was a satisfactory answer for most things.

If you think you're self-aware but are only aware of your flaws and not your strengths, you actually just repackaged self-hatred.

Opinions are like assholes: While it can be humiliating, get yours examined by an expert. If they say something is wrong with it, believe them.

The Simpsons didn't predict anything. We've just fixed nothing since 1989. Probably earlier.

Synthetic gemstones are considered less valuable than mined gemstones, despite being more perfect. This is true regardless of whether or not it costs less to make than mine.

I think the fact that we collectively decided that "the suffering makes it special" points to a flaw in the human brain.

I hope that when other countries do manned missions to the moon, they pull down all our flags. I know my country, and we would definitely go to the moon just to put the flags back up.

Without worker's rights, employment is a hellscape where you can only hope to protect yourself by having unique and valuable skills, which is a race to the bottom.

To prevent this, you either have to have the public option, which is laws protecting workers, or the private option, which is unions.

There's been boss fight music playing in the background for a decade now. Now, the music includes a choir singing in Latin.

OpenAI's business model appears to be "invent AGI or crash the global economy." It might sound like the intent is to invent AGI, but it's actually an extortion racket. The more they get invested in, the greater the damage they can do if people stop investing in them.

English words that contain "meow":

I looked up the definition of "yet." It means "now," but it has different unwritten rules about where, in a sentence, it can go.

On one occasion, I used the phrase "that's a doozy," and a coworker who spoke English as a second language asked me what a doozy was. I bluescreened.
