Talking about this made me feel quite vulnerable, so I'm thankful for all the thoughtfulness and support!
I'm checking my heart regularly, every other year, and exercising+eating well to stay healthy. Getting stronger! The doctors still hope the defect might disappear, so I'll keep doing my best.

I'm so sorry for your loss! I'm hoping there won't ever be the need for surgery at this point of my life. Hearts can be so delicate- I can't imagine how complex it must have been, for that time, to treat him when he was a child.

It's one of those things that you only *see* when you look back as an adult- back then I knew my condition and limits, but other than that, it was all blissful ignorance. My parents are definitely the ones who carried it all through- very gracefully!

Thank you so much, Yoru 💖 doing my best to stay healthy! The cardio exercise (almost daily) definitely helps, it's one of those rare and weird cases where I feel healthier as a 30yo than I did as a teen 😆

I have a congenital heart defect. My likeliness of survival in case of surgery as an infant/child was too low, so it was never treated.
Things got better- while growing, the defect and its effect on the lungs became less significant- but there is so much I couldn't do when I was a child/teenager.

The first piece is personal work, so for now (until I make new pieces illustrating the same world!), it's the only piece from the setting.

But if you like anthro animals, I wholeheartedly recommend Bloomburrow (MTG, by WotC) and Humblewood (by HPP)!

A knight on a white horse, setting out to find a dragon in a mountainous wild wasteland, has just encountered the dragon’s aunt. She is MASSIVE, half pompous matron and half dragon, decked with curls, pearls, and feathers (or are they horsetails?) with a long scaly tail stretching back into the mountains, and a formidable gold lorgnette, through which she examines the knight. She does not approve.

The Rose Queen, in a grand rose gown, is surrounded by her court of elegant bee attendants in a spacious pavilion decked with roses. The bee courtiers are all vying for her attention.

A cobbled street in the city of Pontassieve on a sunny afternoon. Fine stone buildings line the street, with red tiled roofs and shady awnings. The arched doorway of an old medieval guard gate is down the street. There’s a large, well kept two story stone inn. The sign shows a red rampant boar, the door and windows are open, showing guests drinking inside, and more guests drink under an adjoining grape arbor. Cats and large decorated pots of herbs perch in the windows. The handsome middle-aged landlady stands outside haranguing her two lovely daughters who are returning from the market with baskets of fruit and jugs of wine, gossiping. At a fruit stand is across the street, a small child takes a plum and watches a large dog, as the fruit vendor looks wistfully at the landlady’s pretty daughters, oblivious to everything else. Further down the street various townspeople argue, with very Italian gestures.

In a narrow rocky pass with overhanging cliffs, a motley gang of bandits suddenly appears atop a rocky edge ahead! It’s an ambush! The leader, a handsome but menacing brunette
woman, brandishes a sword and dagger. Behind her, a motley gang flourishes a random assortment of weapons: swords, daggers, knives, axes, halberds, crossbows, cleavers, and big sticks with nails. Their appearance and attire is just as random, some wearing helmets of breastplates, some in leather doublets, some in shirtsleeves or tunics and brightly patterned tights, one in a gown and apron. The leader wears a hat with rooster feathers, leather doublet and buskins, red shirt with puffed sleeves, and red and yellow striped tights, as well as several gold chains. Her chief henchman, beside her, is a huge and very hairy fellow with tusk-like lower teeth, in patched blue and yellow tights and sheepskin vest. He wields an enormous axe and a fearsome scowl and looks a trifle orcish.
