This is Minneapolis:

Local bookstore has masks & a sign noting that they’re great for pepper spray.

This is Minneapolis:

Our kids asked that their white noise machine be turned up to try to drown out the noise of the helicopter that’s been nonstop since we woke up this morning.

Our 7yo asked “Isn’t it past their bedtime, too? They should go home & stop being so noisy.”

You're right. Thank you for that reminder. 😆 This is me:

This is Minneapolis:

-drop the kids off for a day with their grandparents
-go to brunch with your wife
-get a text from neighbors who don’t have enough food & can’t leave home or they might be abducted by fed govt
-get groceries as helicopters roar overhead
-deliver food & this vehicle passes you

This is Minneapolis:

My 7yo found a bag of whistles and asked if they could have one.

I said yes, but explained what they’re for and that they’re not a toy right now.

I got more work done then came downstairs to find they’d labeled an old tic tac container like this for their whistle.

Our 7yo drew this last night.

Wow, the contrast between my experience of 2026 and theirs so far.

Let’s support each other through the days/weeks/months/years ahead to give ALL kids the world they deserve and dream of. 🌈

Once again, and always, I ❤️ Minneapolis.

This is what Minneapolis is like right now: City staff in city uniforms are being harassed by fed immigration enforcement for being not white.

Ah, ok. This is what came up when I googled it. Maybe it’s like 311?

Perhaps there are differences in how folks are going about this request in St Paul.

I’ll defer to you as I’m not in those spaces, just sharing what’s worked over here (contacting school board).

Thank you for advocating!

Hola Arepa will also be closed tomorrow.

When they’re open again, businesses like these deserve our money.

This the right call.

Please check in with neighbors who may need support with childcare.

Walking around Lyndale & Central now and seeing all of the people observing, esp our schools, had me thinking about how adult elephants circle their babies to keep them safe.

We keep us safe & I’m so grateful to be in a community where folks look out for each other. ❤️

It’s also important..

Sidewalks are AWFUL this morning.

Every property that had uncleared snow yesterday (vast majority near me) is now covered in 1-3” of slush &/or water. Bare concrete is sheer ice.

Wear waterproof boots, yak trax & plan for more of a workout given the difficulty of walking in slush.

Despite living in Denver for a decade (& MN the rest of my years) I do NOT ski.

My winter jacket has a pocket for a ski lift ticket, but I’ve discovered it’s perfect for keeping my @metrotransitmn.bsky.social GoTo card handy.

What a privilege to get to watch our city inauguration in person.

Thanks to my council member, @sorenwithward8.bsky.social for the great seat!

I’m grateful to live in a city where I know MANY of our local electeds are working hard to ensure Minneapolis is a safe, welcoming place for everyone.

Twin Cities: Does anyone have a spare kids’ booster carseat laying around (with a back or backless) that you’d be willing to loan or donate to support local families in need right now?

Reply here or DM me!

Please share - need is time sensitive.

Mplsfolks: Do you remember how glorious it was to have MPRB parkways closed to car traffic in 2020 to create more space for walking/biking rolling?

Do you want to see more of that?

On Jan 7th there'll be an amendment to the planning committee to revisit this!

If you're in parks district 3...

After snowfall, the protected bikeway on Bryant effectively becomes a shared use path bc the sidewalks are very inconsistently cleared (by property owners) while the bikeway is quickly & well-cleared (by city).

If we can’t get municipal sidewalk plowing, let’s get protected bikeways everywhere.
