Agreed! They’re so helpful for so many different folks.

My dream is to get bike share back and then some. But in the meantime we’ll keep doing what we can via @mplscargobikelibrary.com .

Our trike has been fully booked (w a waitlist) back to back all year.

It's weird, but Frey has inherited the NIMBYs because city politics has reoriented around fear of crime instead of fear of housing density.

For all the credit Frey likes to take for 2040, he didn't do shit to get it passed, fucked up the legal defense, and his campaign coffers rely on a coalition of people who hate it. So I'm gonna stay skeptical.

If it fits, I sits.

Why look for legal, safe parking when you can turn the sidewalk into your own VIP parking space?

I was riding it 4x a day for daycare drop off and pickup 2 years ago & had some *really* scary experiences with aggressive drivers east of the highway, especially in winter.

And crossing Park and Portland with kids is very scary.

But agreed that traffic diverters work well & we need more!

Trikes do so much.

I saw this e-trike owner on our way home late last night (& again just now!).

They have a ton of string lights and it looks SO cool all lit up at night.

We exchanged compliments about our different, bright and colorful trikes as we passed on Bryant.

We can and should do more quick build, cheaper options like this to help build out critical gaps in our active transit network.

For example, I’d love to see 40th east of the highway get the same treatment as we have west of the highway.

40th St is *far* from the fanciest bike infra in Minneapolis.

The city replaced 1 side of car parking w/ a flex post protected 2 way bikeway.

It gets SO much use, esp w/ kids and families on cargo bikes bc it’s a critical east west connection.

As we work toward concrete protection …

My 7yo this afternoon: “It’s been so long since we’ve taken the @bunchbike.com somewhere!”

Me: “We just rode it to/from St. Paul last night.” (40 mins each way)

7yo: “Yeah, but yesterday was a long time ago.”

😆

Oh that is SO generous of you! 😱

And I really want to say yes (bc e assist would be awesome) but realistically that bike is too big to carry on most of the longtails I’m moving around.

i just wrote in my blog about 3 instances of 311 calls leading to housing inspectors violating confidentiality in 2023, but this happens to this day with 311 reports to traffic control. they closed a ticket of mine as “gone on arrival” without going there & i sent proof in -

If I can also add that folks need to focus their filming on the ice agents, not their target. Number of agents, license plate of agents cars. Zoom in on badges and what little you can see of their face.
Protect the abductee’s identity. Please.

There’s a viral video reposted by a lot of news people nationally about an abduction at West Loop Elementary School, but there is no school with that name. The video seems to be of ICE detaining people near UIC yesterday. Details matter. We need to try to get them right before sharing.

A few months ago, a friend visited me in Utrecht. As we biked around to do daily errands, she kept saying, "This is like a dream. This is like a dream."

I do believe all cities the world over to soon come to their senses, limit car movement, and build a dream of safe, abundant streets for people.

The bike shop owner told me the motor is Bafang. Folks who can afford Bosch are probably going to get an Urban Arrow or R&M anyway (for way more $). Tradeoffs at each price point!

Does anyone in the Twin Cities have a folding bike they don't need... and want to donate to @mplscargobikelibrary.com?

When I take our e cargo bikes in to shops for repairs I usually pay for Lime bikes to get myself back home. I'd love to use a folding bike, instead.

I didn't get to test ride it bc I was too busy talking to everyone, but @thecargobikeshop.bsky.social 's take is that it's a great bike with some quirks (as, of course, is the case with more affordable options). It sounds like this one has a high bottom bracket.

Why bother looking for legal, safe parking on street when you can just park on the protected bikelane?

There were *many* awesome bikes at the fundraiser last night, but of course I was drawn to the e cargo bikes that @thecargobikeshop.bsky.social brought for us to check out. 😍
