This is so bleak

I see so many reviews of games I love that suggest pretty much removing interesting ideas wholesale, and can't comprehend that maybe the game just isn't 100% built for them, specifically

I think the hardest part of making any art on a platform with a review component is that a lot of the audience will have interesting critiques based on their experiences, but absolutely no idea when it comes to what they *actually* want or would like to change.

All this to say I'm feeling genuinely really excited for what every new day brings. Very happy to feel comfortable just posting about random stuff again!

I think having a pet of my own to look after has also been so wonderful. Mio has helped me so much this year, and every morning I'm excited to see her silly face.

It's luckily meant that over the past few days I feel like I've been able to actually let go of the tension I've been holding for what feels like months, now. I've been properly enjoying watching stuff, listening to music and podcasts, and playing games again, which feels huge!

It's a difficult thing to talk about and I might delete this later, but this year a few events led to me developing a level of anxiety that was manifesting as physical pain and tension. Recognising that I needed to get back onto medication took a lot of effort to not feel like a backslide.

You all did such a phenomenal job!!! 🥹

I feel like even with all the progress we've seen over the past two decades, there's still an unwillingness in media to allow trans women that aren't stereotypically attractive to exist without being offensive caricatures, and Tokyo Godfathers is such a breath of fresh air in that regard. 10/10.

Shakina Nayfack (@shakeenz.bsky.social) as Hana is stunningly good, and along with the updated translation it elevates Hana to where I can easily say she's one of the best characters I've ever seen in any media. There are shots of Hana holding Kyoko that are genuinely breathtaking.

When you truly know something inside out, you can correct mistakes as you go, identify problems long before they arise, and a lot of that experience probably has applications in dozens of other areas too.

Like, if I want to learn to cook a meal really well, it doesn't just involve learning the recipe. It involves experimenting with what happens if I cook at a higher temperature, if I change the amount of different seasonings, less oil, what happens if I marinate beforehand, etc

I'm a firm believer in the idea that you learn by basically continually making mistakes, until you can visualise distinct outcomes from changing specific variables. Getting good at every stage of a process is frustrating, but the friction there is important
