@roxanegay.bsky.social Hi Roxanne—the headline you have posted here makes so much sense and I appreciate your words as always. Unfortunately the NY Times now has them under this headline:

Yet again-

“Scalzo takes the reader on a journey through well-researched history, supernatural curiosity, and a deep appreciation for life and death and even tragedy. I found myself inside the mind of this young lady, and I forgot that I was reading a book. I don’t remember that happening to me before.”

That sucks so bad. Here’s some Jules Feiffer as an antidote. I don’t know, it helped me.

Art and this pack of motherfuckers are not the same thing. Take over the building and the money and programming to your heart’s delight but all you get is a politicized commodified piece of shit. Art is green shoots of originality untouched by power. So fuck you to each and every one involved.

For all the reasons. The first of many (all of them) I’ve read by Tom McGuane, but more than anything the first time I was overwhelmed by the feeling of loving someone’s writing so hard.

Got to hang with my pal @carolleonnig.bsky.social and her coauthor Aaron Davis and hear them talk about their new book, INJUSTICE. Plus a cookie! Gratitude to these journos doing the heavy lift needed to keep our democracy alive—cannot wait to read this one.

Cherry Blossom time in DC is a splashy event as well it should be, but something about these Yoshino trees in the fall. They’re—I don’t know—my people.

Are these tricky headlines meant to grab my attention to read furiously until I see it’s not exactly as fucked up as it sounds? I’ll never know.

Here’s one for you—yesterday in Rock Creek Park a semi tractor trailer abandoned there overnight. I asked the cop if he was going to open in — yes. Did he want help — (weird look) no. Honestly we were both kinda freaked. Still curious.
