“Scalzo takes the reader on a journey through well-researched history, supernatural curiosity, and a deep appreciation for life and death and even tragedy. I found myself inside the mind of this young lady, and I forgot that I was reading a book. I don’t remember that happening to me before.”

Benito is a threat b/c he makes art so alluring and enjoyable you want to understand everything about it and then you end up learning about sugar and slavery and colonialism and the Taínos and Hawaii and then you probably have some thoughts of your own, and that's why art is powerful and dangerous

Worth mentioning that Sam Darnold was kicked to the curb, sidelined, and overlooked prior to becoming a Super Bowl winning quarterback. Keep going mates, wherever you are, and I’ll do the same.

Listen, I’m a jewel thief, ok? I’m gonna brag about how I make more money than the jewelry store down the street and in the future everyone who does it this way also will. The NYT’s is gonna feature me as a predictor of things to come.

Good?

Way better, baby. 🖤🖤🖤
The point of the AI project is to provoke despair in creative people. They haven’t produced profits or anything anyone wants, just a steady stream of articles about how us artistic types can’t do the thing we’re already doing, making art. Jokes on them, we’re even better at despair than they are.

Watching the worst try to tell us they control art and music reminds me why I’m excited for my friend’s new book, coming out in May from @microcosm.bsky.social. The DC story is art up not power down no matter how much they want you to think otherwise.

Unreal. He’s shutting down the Kennedy Center, after his flunkies caused mass defections of artists?

Everything the man touches turns to ash. Our cultural heritage; destroyed. Our national treasures; plundered.
Trump: "I have determined that the fastest way to bring The Trump Kennedy Center to the highest level of Success, Beauty, and Grandeur, is to cease Entertainment Operations for an approximately two year period of time, with a scheduled Grand Reopening that will rival and surpass anything."

The federal government is executing American citizens in the middle of the street for exercising their constitutional right to freedom of speech.

This is tyranny. No free people can accept this kind of government. We need to bring an end to the Trump regime.

The Department of Homeland Security is lawless. We need to demand reforms.

I wish I could remember who said they wish they had cultural power but they're trying to use political power in its place. They can remove the signs. They cannot remove all the histories, primary documents, and collective knowledge of the past, and their attacks underscore why these things matter.
Signs about the history of slavery in the U.S. and the 9 people George Washington enslaved are being removed right now at the President’s House Site in Philadelphia, across from Independence Hall, months after the Trump administration threatend to do so.

How far we have not come in 250 years.
