The whole cast of Hairspray (1988) is insane. Ruth Brown, who plays Motormouth Maybelle would be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame a few years later. I didn't even know who she was at the time.
This girl had the craziest career. Amber in the original Hairspray, lead singer of alt rock band Eve's Plum, pop star Vitamin C, music exec at Nickelodeon and now Netflix.
