Always a great sign for how things are going in your country when 21-year-olds are like “hey, I innovated a system to play bagpipes in tear gas”
When you hear of someone being a human rights lawyer like Starmer (or an environmental lawyer like RFK Jr.) that specialty doesn't tell you anything about what they believe.
It's essential for lawyers to know both sides of the argument they're engaged in, which isn't a bad thing in and of itself.

I think being a human rights lawyer who not only criminalises protest, imprisons people on remand, ignores their hunger strikes, refers to asylum seekers as 'illegal' and brags about how they're not allowed to use taxis anymore might have something to do with why he's not well liked? idk
