Last night I started Scuttler's Cove by @davidmbarnett.bsky.social I thought I'd read for 15 minutes, 2 hours later I forced myself to put it down and sleep. I'm just a few chapters from the end and it's great!

Heading back in! 🦀 🍎

Researching Beltane for the show and looking at fires. Apparently the tradition was that the fires must all be put out and rekindled from the Beltane Bonfire.

However, that fire had to be a need-fire, created by the rubbing of sticks. This picture shows just how wrong the boy-scout image I had was!

Introducing the amazing Tonya!

In many ways, this fabulous human has been with us from the beginning but she is now officially the newest member of our quirky family.

I need to be more active on here! Tonight I've completed a short course on flash fiction but gave been writing drabbles and I've really enjoyed it!
I might share a few microfics here as accountability to keep me writing 😊

Looking forward to playing with this new gadget at the shows next week! Not long to go now. There's still one or two spaces left of people fancy a last minute horror investigation jaunt to beat the January blues.

I'm fairly certain I did this in '24 without meaning to, but I think I'll make sure of it this year - a nice way to make sure I don't repeat '23 where I read just 1 genre (and a small selection of authors. A more rounded (but still leaning hard to horror/weird/unsettling) is now on the cards :)
I saw a few reading bingo cards doing the rounds and thought it would be fun to come up with a BFS one! How many of these can you mark off in 2025?

Tonight the Lemon Difficult team swap horror for space politics (still fairly horror filled though...)

Come and see my show - for half price. This weekend 14th Dec in South Wales
It's prep and packing day! So much to print, so much to pack. But hey, we're pretty organised!

Additionally, we have had one room come available for this weekend. So if you want a last minute super deal, we'd love to welcome folks from the Bluesky creative community.

Happy history nerd writings!
One of the really fun parts of my work writing for The Key of Dreams, is getting to indulge my inner history and folklore nerd. Researching historical traditions is so much fun.
This week, I made a leaflet for the Yuletide show, here is just a sneaky peek - the rest is redacted!

Oh look how pretty our festive editions of the field guides are! 😍
One of the things that always feels almost magical every time is going from an idea to a tangible *thing* that .

So receiving the new festive field guides for our intrepid investigators of our Christmas show gives me particular delight!

I really enjoyed making these. I'm not primarily an artist or graphic designer, but being part of a small studio (and I mean tiny, me, Ivan, Marianne, and the dog!) means I've developed many skills over the last 2 years.
Been playing with some seasonal designs for the Christmas shows today. Doesn't seem quite right to keep promoting the May day dance in the depths of winter.

I love working from old art and tweaking it. Rather pleased with how these turned out.
