The casualty list just groups him under "died," which he did at the isolation hospital/sanatorium at East Dereham in Norfolk in June 1943. Notice of the funeral was published in the Hull Daily Mail.

It's hard to work out what the cause of death on his certificate says. The only bit I can make out is "Myocarditis (Toxic)", which, I see, is caused by "exposure to certain drugs, chemicals, or toxins."

Anyway, this bit about a National Data Library struck me because data is only as good as its metadata, and thinking back to the days of the Administrative Data Service, metadata and documentation was often so poor as to be unusable. Not even machines can fix that.
