3/3. She is now challenging this decision on the grounds of discrimination and harassment, and under protections afforded to whistleblowers.

We wish Polina the best and hope that this case will make companies think twice before hiding immoral practices behind progressive advertising slogans.

2/3 Polina alleges that she was subject to detrimental treatment following her objection to advertising campaigns that looked to "greenwash" several household brands and create “an illusion of sustainability”. When she brought up these concerns she was suspended.

We must demand better from our prestigious higher education institutions.

We are very happy to have supported this important case and are always keen to support further cases that look to challenge unjust employment practices (details on applying for funding are available on our website).

This was seen as a pivotal case in challenging the widespread use of gig economy "sham" contracts in higher education.

However, over a year has passed and Oxford University continues to use these types of contracts to leave thousands of lecturers and support staff in a vulnerable position.

It was great to see a case funded by Law for Change featured in The Observer over the weekend. Last January, Rebecca Abrams and Alice Jolly took a case against Oxford University, to the employment tribunal where a judge ruled they should be viewed as employees.

Lord Eltrich ruled the decision in the Finch v Surrey County Council case, that we funded in 2024, must now retrospectively be applied to this case. Fresh approval must now be sought from the UK Govt, where they will have to consider the environmental implications of the downstream emissions.

Congratulations to Uplift and @greenpeace.eu for their victory at the Court of Session in Edinburgh regarding Rosebank and Jackdaw oil and gas fields. Today’s ruling that consent for two new Scottish oil and gas fields was granted unlawfully is another important victory for climate campaigners.

Law for Change has now backed several successful cases against the MET Police. It is crucial that our public institutions operate within the law and uphold high standards, and we will continue to fund important litigation that looks to ensure this is the case.
