Uncharacteristically sloppy reporting of a very important issue, this from the FT. It quotes "Fair Civil Justice" without mentioning it is a front for the US Chamber of Commerce and it quotes CMS without mentioning it is Fair Civil Justice's lawyers. on.ft.com/48gOSZv

I'd add this. Although human rights are universal, those who most need the shelter they provide are those without money and power and who are politically targeted. The cost of the Supreme Court's choice to "edit the Human Rights Act out of existence" will be born most heavily by them.

It's difficult to read this piece without asking yourself whether you need to be foreign to see England for what it is. It's difficult, too, to read it because doing so is to be reminded, again, how much we will miss Conor Gearty. www.lrb.co.uk/the-paper/v4...

Because of the unforgivably appalling decisions of the Charity Commission, these hate groups, Sex Matters and LGB Alliance, are funded from your taxes.

Hard not to speculate that it's a tragedy made from the very white and almost uniquely privileged quality of our senior judiciary: how are you to understand what life is like in the rain if you have lived yours entirely in the sun?

I am sure it reflects @seanjones.org's experiences. And I have enormous affection and respect for him. But others', including mine, differ.

Mourning those murdered by Hamas isn't incompatible with mourning those murdered by the Israeli state.

Demanding that the hostages return isn't incompatible with naming & demanding an end to genocide.

Naming the power imbalance & impact thereof doesn't desecrate those murdered two years ago today.

A human rights position is universal, requiring us all to extend rights and protections to those we disagree with

Yes, you can deny some groups are owed human rights, but only by denying their humanity

In the last 2 weeks MAGA aligned people have done 2 attempted mass shootings of a gay bar and pride center in Arizona and Texas, murdered 2 teenage girls for mocking Charlie Kirk, and torched a judge's home.

Meanwhile, the government mobilized the military to go after the left.

Home Secretary tells Sky News that “there is a gap in the law” when it comes to frequent, repeated protests on the same issue. Hence she will be giving police greater powers to move them to another location or time.

Here is a thing that I hear from *almost every British Jew I know* but have barely heard expressed in any of these programmes: No single person has done more to make Jewish people globally less safe than Benjamin Netanyahu.

Many pundits today are pushing the line that everyone who protests the genocide in Gaza is basically either antisemitic or tolerant of antisemitism. But isn't that precisely the conflation of the actions of the Israeli gov't with all Jewish people, which is at the heart of this wave of antisemitism?
