A huge number of people do that shit but I am very much intentionally not doing that, both naming the power imbalance generally (implying Occupation as well, but only had so many characters) and genocide.

The Jewish institutional machinery has been eliding like whoa but many of us do not.

And even if they were "put by their govt as human shields," since when are "civilians being fucked by an unjust government" not human beings who deserve human rights?

If you see what I post on I/P, you'd note that 99% of what I do is talk about Israel's crimes and fight for my community to pay attention to the genocide.

On 10/7, necessarily--we observe death anniversaries--ignoring the harms to civilians in that massacre would feel v not on point to me.

Please, God, may there be a ceasefire agreement soon, and may it be the beginning of a new, more whole future for everyone in the region.

May new leadership rise that eschews slaughter and helps to chart a new course.

May there be repentance and repair, insofar as it may ever be possible.

Human rights are not conditional.

Human safety should not be conditional.

The ability of human beings to exist in conditions that permit their flourishing should not be conditional.

If we honor human life, we honor human life.

If human beings are truly holy, truly created in the divine image, then genocide in revenge for slaughter is the opposite of justice.

It's the most extreme misunderstanding of the significance of what was taken. To say the least.

Mourning those murdered by Hamas isn't incompatible with mourning those murdered by the Israeli state.

Demanding that the hostages return isn't incompatible with naming & demanding an end to genocide.

Naming the power imbalance & impact thereof doesn't desecrate those murdered two years ago today.

DHS is repelling from helicopters into apartment buildings to raid them and zip tie children in the middle of the night while saying "fuck them kids." They're shooting at people on the streets and lying about it.

This is a hostile occupying force that is a threat to everyone's safety.
